Does your starting QB also play Defense?
Starting QB play defense too?
Several youth coaches and I have been discussing if one should allow their starting QB play defense too. Many of us do not allow our starting QB play defense more than just a few plays now and then. Do you allow your QB to play defense more then just a few plays. What do you think? Vote above.

Re: Starting QB play defense too?
I definitely agree that the starting QB should not play defense.
That said, ourleague have a slaughter rule that forces you to take out your starting backfield, which means your QB HAS to play defense. Our solution has been to play him at Corner or Safety, where he will get some action, but not an excessive amount like he would at Linebacker.

Re: Starting QB play defense too?
We're a Double Wing team. Our QBs play like pulling guards on our bread and butter play, so they're good and physical. We technically have a "starter", but our QBs do so much running and pounding that we sub them a lot. All of our backs are required to learn an OL position. Sounds crazy, but we don't have any "patch" kids on our team. Our line play is built around speed and athleticism. Our starting QB is also our starting CB and the 2nd string QB is a starting Outside Stacker.
